B O S S F A Q S by cranium7 =========================================================================================== CHRONO TRIGGER =========================================================================================== *•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- None of the bosses are very hard to beat, if you're smart and heal whenever you need. Lavos, however, is a different story. He's not quite as cheap as Kefka in FF3, but he's harder and takes MUCH longer to kill completely. So without further ado, I wrote a strategy on how to beat him and the bosses he mimics. By the way, when I describe him, personally and NOT who he mimics, the hit figures are based around characters around level 60. =========================================================================================== DRAGON TANK -- guardia prison, 1000 a.d. The Dragon Tank is confusing. First, you should kill the head with physical attacks. Unless you do, it'll keep healing itself and you won't he able to hurt it with Slash or Flame Toss. Once that's done, immediatly take care of the wheels or else you'll take some good damage. After that, finish the body at your leisure. If you're fighting Lavos, use Crono and Ayla's Double-Tech, Falcon Hit. =========================================================================================== GUARDIAN -- arris dome, 2300 a.d. First things first, do _-NOT-_ attack the Guardian without killing the two Bits!!! Other- wise you'll get a ferocious retaliation attack. Once you've killed both Bits, the Guardian is a sitting duck. If you're fighting Lavos, bring a group of strong fighters like Crono, Ayla, and either Robo or Frog. =========================================================================================== HECKRAN -- heckran cave, 1000 a.d. This guy's easy. Just blast away with magic attacks and heal yourself when you need to. If you can, use some magic Double-Techs for more damage. If you're fighting Lavos, use strong Double- or Triple-Techs like Antipode 3 or DarkEternal. =========================================================================================== ZOMBOR -- zenan bridge, 600 a.d. This guy's almost as easy. First, kill the head with Ice (preferably Ice Sword), then use Crono's Lightning or Lucca's Fire attacks on the body. Not too hard, but watch out for the MP Buster death-attack. If you're fighting Lavos, use Crono and Frog's Double-Techs, Spire and SwordStream. =========================================================================================== MASA & MUNE -- denadoro mts., 600 a.d. This isn't quite so easy. Use Slash attacks when they store tornado energy. Other than that, just use your best attacks and heal when needed. If you're fighting Lavos, use strong Triple-Techs like 3D Attack. =========================================================================================== NIZBEL -- reptite lair, 65000000 b.c. Nizbel can get annoying. Shock him the first chance you get, then hit him with your best attacks. When he fires the stored electricity, heal and repeat. If you're fighting Lavos, bring Crono, Magus, and Robo, and have them use Luminaire, Lightning2 and Shock respectively. =========================================================================================== MAGUS -- magus' lair, 600 a.d. and north cape, 12000 b.c. (optional) A tough, long fight. First things first, bring Crono, Frog, and Lucca, but you can bring Marle instead if you need the added healing power. Start by attacking physically with Crono, which will cause him to attack with Fire 2, Ice 2, Lightning2, or Dark Bomb. Use whatever element-type he uses, which is what will hurt him. If he uses Dark Bomb, you're out of luck unless you brought Robo (Laser Spin) or you're playing + mode and have Delta Storm (Triple-Tech). Once you've halved his HPs, he'll stop attacking for a while until he uses Dark Matter. By the way, three little trivia things I'd like to point out: One, his exact number of hit points is 6666. Two, Strago's (from Final Fantasy III) last name was Magus. And third, there's a type of similarity between Magus and Lavos' names (Magma and Lava?) If you're fighting Lavos, bring Magus himself! He'll be able to counter any and all of the attacks. =========================================================================================== AZALA -- tyrano lair, 65000000 b.c. As long as the fight with Magus, but not as hard comparitively. Start by offing Azala with Double-Techs like Volt Bite. Once that's done, wait until Black Tyrano lowers his guard, then attack with everything you've got! After ten roars he'll shoot some deadly rounds of flame at you, so heal and repeat. Don't expect to win too quickly, since Black Tyrano has about 10000 HP. If you're fighting Lavos, do whatever fancies you but try to sneak in a few Luminaires. =========================================================================================== GIGA GAIA -- mountain of woe, 12000 b.c. Giga Gaia's not too hard if you know the right tricks. First, kill the hands with Crono and Ayla's Falcon Hit, then use whatever Double- or Triple-Techs you want to, but do it before Gaia revives his hands. If you're fighting Lavos, use the same tactics you used in the first place. =========================================================================================== LAVOS -- 1999 a.d. Lavos isn't as hard as he should be. Use whatever techs you want, and of course heal your- self often. Lavos is much harder in his last two forms, so I'll take some time to explain how to kill him with each party you can have. =========================================================================================== LAVOS --- the second battle GENERAL TIPS The arm on your left has less HP than the right, so kill that one first, but try to use multiple-hitting spells. Once it says "Engaging the main body" or "Obstacle," the body has lowered its guard. Now's the time to hit it with all you have. CRONO, MARLE Lavos is a bit harder with only two characters, but still beatable. Use Luminaire and have Marle heal. Once the body has engaged or cast Obstacle, use Ice Sword 2. CRONO, MARLE, LUCCA Have Crono use Luminaire and the other two use the double-tech Antipode 3, which is a combined total of over 5000 HP damage. Use the same strategy once the hands are dead. CRONO, MARLE, FROG Have Crono use (what else?) Luminaire and the other two use either the Glacier or Double Cure double-techs. Use either the same moves or the Arc Impulse triple-tech on the body. CRONO, MARLE, ROBO Guess what? Crono should use Luminaire. Have Robo use Shock, and Marle heal or cast Haste. For some variety, use the double-tech Max Shock. CRONO, MARLE, AYLA Quite a bit harder than the other combos. Equip Ayla with a Gold Stud if you can and use Triple Kick. Have Crono Luminaire and Marle heal or use double-techs. CRONO, MARLE, MAGUS Use the same strategies you did with just Crono and Marle. Magus should either use Dark Matter or Lapises. CRONO, LUCCA, FROG Have Crono use Luminaire or FireSword 2. Frog should either attack or use the double-tech Frog Flare. CRONO, LUCCA, ROBO Have Crono use Luminaire or Super Volt. Lucca should use Flare or a double-tech, or attack with the Wondershot. Robo should use Heal Beam whenever nessecary. CRONO, LUCCA, AYLA Crono should do the usual, while Lucca and Ayla use Blaze Kick. Ayla is the healer in this fight, so use FireSword2 when she has to heal the group. CRONO, LUCCA, MAGUS Have Crono and Lucca use FireSword2 when together or Luminaire and Flare seperately. Magus should, again, use DarkMatter and healing items. CRONO, FROG, ROBO Crono should use (what else?) Luminaire. Frog and Robo should use Cure Wave when you need to, or otherwise use Blade Toss or attacks. Use Triple Raid once the arms are gone. CRONO, FROG, AYLA Use Crono and Ayla's Falcon Hit to kill the arms, then use Luminaire. Frog should use Heal or the double-techs Slurp Kiss and Drop Kick. CRONO, FROG, MAGUS Just about the same pattern should work. Crono should use Luminaire and Magus should use Dark Matter. Frog should use Heal or attacks. CRONO, ROBO, AYLA Use the Twister triple tech, or else Heal Beam/Shock, Triple Kick, and Luminaire. CRONO, ROBO, MAGUS Not much to say here. Luminaire, Shock, and DarkMatter all work well. CRONO, AYLA, MAGUS One of the harder combos. Use, again, Luminaire, Triple Kick, and Dark Matter. You may want to have Magus use Magic Wall on Ayla at some point. MARLE, LUCCA, FROG Use Antipode 3 whenever you can, along with Frog's attacks or Heal move. Use Frog Squash if your HP gets really low. MARLE, LUCCA, ROBO Again, use Antipode 3, and Robo's Shock and Uzzi Punch. MARLE, LUCCA, AYLA Use Antipode 3 and Triple Kick. Don't rely on PoyozoDance since it's not that powerful. MARLE, LUCCA, MAGUS Using DarkEternal isn't a bad idea, although you can get a lot more damage using Antipode3 and Dark Matter. MARLE, FROG, ROBO If your HP gets low, make sure to use GrandDream! Otherwise, use attacks like Glacier and Shock. MARLE, FROG, AYLA Use attacks like Ice Toss and Glacier, and have Ayla and Frog use Slurp Kiss, but after using Dino Tail and Frog Squash. MARLE, FROG, MAGUS Use Glacier and Dark Matter, and Frog's Heal whenever you need. MARLE, ROBO, AYLA Mainly, just use Ice Toss and Shock. Also, you have plenty of healing capacity with this team, so don't worry about it. MARLE, ROBO, MAGUS Same as always, use Ice Tackle (which isn't that powerful. Too bad) and DarkMatter. MARLE, AYLA, MAGUS Not much to say here, just use Ice Toss and DarkMatter. LUCCA, FROG, ROBO Use Frog Flare and Shock in this battle. This team also has a lot of healing potential. LUCCA, FROG, AYLA Use Triple Kick, Drop Kick, Flare, Frog Flare, and Slurp Kiss here. LUCCA, FROG, MAGUS Same thing, use Frog Flare and Dark Matter mostly. LUCCA, ROBO, AYLA Use double-techs like Blaze Kick and Fire Tackle, along with Heal Beams. LUCCA, ROBO, MAGUS Although you could use Omega Flare (which is pretty powerful), use single-techs like Flare, Shock, and DarkMater for the most damage. LUCCA, AYLA, MAGUS Guess what? Your best moves here are Blaze Kick and Dark Matter. FROG, ROBO, AYLA Since this is a strong physical and healing team, use normal attacks mostly and save your MP for the healing moves. FROG, ROBO, MAGUS You know the drill, use techs like Blade Toss and Dark Matter. FROG, AYLA, MAGUS Mostly, use Drop Kick, DarkMatter, and the like. ROBO, AYLA, MAGUS Use Uzzi Punch/Shock, Triple Kick, and DarkMatter. =========================================================================================== LAVOS CORE -- the final battle GENERAL TIPS Always, ALWAYS kill the bit on the left first. It's the healing one. It absorbs every kind of magic so only use physical attacks on it. Once that's done, wait for it to say that the Active Life bit (on your right) lowered its defense. Then focus all of your energies on it. After a while it will revive the left bit (or Lavos himself if you killed him). Once the Active Life bit is killed, you win the fight. CRONO, MARLE Use Confuse and Marle's Valkerie crossbow on the healer, then Luminaire and IceSword2 on the Active Life bit. CRONO, MARLE, LUCCA Use Confuse and Marle's attack on the healer (not the Wondershot, it's too unpredictable), then use Luminaire and Antipode3 on Active Life. CRONO, MARLE, FROG Use Confuse and an attack on the healer, then Luminaire and Glacier on Active Life. CRONO, MARLE, ROBO Use Confuse and any attack on the healer, then IceSword2 and Uzzi Punch/Shock on Active Life. CRONO, MARLE, AYLA Use Triple Kick on the healer, then Luminaire, Ice Toss, and Gatling Kick on Active Life. CRONO, MARLE, MAGUS Use Confuse and an attack on the healer, then Ice Sword 2 and DarkMatter on Active Life. CRONO, LUCCA, FROG Use Confuse and Frog's attack on the healer, then Luminaire, FireSword2, and Frog Flare on Active Life. CRONO, LUCCA, ROBO Use Uzzi Punch on the healer (which will probably kill it), then Luminaire, Flare, and Shock on Active Life. If, per chance, Robo is positioned near the Active Life bit, use Fire Zone and Max Cyclone as well. CRONO, LUCCA, AYLA Use Triple Kick or Falcon Hit on the healer, then use Luminaire and Blaze Kick on Active Life. CRONO, LUCCA, MAGUS Use Confuse and Magus' attack on the healer, then FireSword2 and DarkMatter on Active Life. CRONO, FROG, ROBO Use Blade Toss (I think) on the healer, then Luminaire and Triple Raid on Active Life. CRONO, FROG, AYLA Use Triple Kick on the healer, then Luminaire and Drop Kick on Active Life. CRONO, FROG, MAGUS Use Confuse and an attack on the healer, then Luminaire, Leap Slash, Water2, and Dark Matter on Active Life. CRONO, ROBO, AYLA Use Triple Kick on the healer, then Luminaire, Shock, and attacks on Active Life. CRONO, ROBO, MAGUS Use Uzzi Punch on the healer, then Luminaire, Shock, and DarkMatter on Active Life. CRONO, AYLA, MAGUS Use Triple Kick on the healer, then use Luminaire, Falcon Hit, Volt Bite, Triple Kick, Dark Matter, and attacks on Active Life. MARLE, LUCCA, FROG Use Leap Slash and a few attacks on the healer, then Antipode 3 and attacks on Active Life. MARLE, LUCCA, ROBO Use Uzzi Punch on the healer, then Antipode 3 and Shock, Uzzi Punch, or attacks on Active Life. MARLE, LUCCA, AYLA Use Triple Kick on the healer, then Antipode 3, attacks, and PoyozoDance on Active Life. MARLE, LUCCA, MAGUS Use attacks on the healer, then Antipode 3, Dark Matter, and Dark Eternal on Active Life. MARLE, FROG, ROBO Use Uzzi Punch on the healer, then Glacier and Shock on Active Life. MARLE, FROG, AYLA Use Triple Kick on the healer, then Glacier, Ice Toss, and attacks on Active Life. MARLE, FROG, MAGUS Use Leap Slash and attacks on the healer, then Glacier and Dark Matter on Active Life. MARLE, ROBO, AYLA Use Triple Kick or Uzzi Punch on the healer, then Ice Toss, Shock, and attacks on Active Life. MARLE, ROBO, MAGUS Use Uzzi Punch on the healer, then Ice Tackle and Dark Matter on Active Life. MARLE, AYLA, MAGUS Use Triple Kick on the healer, then Ice Toss and Dark Matter on Active life. LUCCA, FROG, ROBO Use Uzzi Punch on the healer, then Frog Flare and Shock on Active Life. LUCCA, FROG, AYLA Use Triple Kick on the healer, then Frog Flare, Blaze Kick, and attacks on Active Life. LUCCA, FROG, MAGUS Use Leap Slash and attacks on the healer, then Frog Flare and Dark Matter on Active Life. LUCCA, ROBO, AYLA Use Triple Kick/Uzzi Punch on the healer, then Blaze Kick and Shock on Active Life. LUCCA, ROBO, MAGUS Use Uzzi Punch on the healer, then Flare, Shock, Dark Matter, and Omega Flare on Active Life. LUCCA, AYLA, MAGUS Use Triple Kick on the healer, then Blaze Kick and Dark Matter on Active Life. FROG, ROBO, AYLA Use Triple Kick on the healer, then Blade Toss, Shock, Triple Kick, Tail Spin, and attacks on Active Life. FROG, ROBO, MAGUS Use Uzzi Punch on the healer, then Blade Toss, Shock, Dark Matter, and attacks on Active Life. FROG, AYLA, MAGUS Use Triple Kick on the healer, then attacks, Triple Kick/Tail Spin, and Dark Matter on Active Life. ROBO, AYLA, MAGUS Use Triple Kick on the healer, then attacks, Shock, Triple Kick/Tail Spin, and Dark Matter on Active Life. =========================================================================================== By Cranium 7 email: cranium7@hotmail.com webpage: http://cranium7.homepad.com Thanks to The Mynock's FAQ, which I constantly reffered to while writing down the stages of Lavos and the double- and triple-techs My parents for getting me this game (once again) Square, for making this game You, for listening to me ramble on and on (and on and on and ON) about the Lavos strategy God, for giving me such a talent (?) for videogames .......................................................................................... •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()
