NAME: Megaman X2 SYSTEM: Super NES MAKER: Capcom PRODUCER: ??? GENRE: Platform/Shooter GRAPHICS: 9. Greatly improved over X1 MUSIC: 7. The electric guitar was messed with FUN: 9. Running around blasting stuff is fun in itself :^) REPLAY: 5. Maybe to get all of Zero's parts back DIFFICULTY: 9. Harder than its predecessor ENDING: 7. The stats are cool STORYLINE: 9. The whole thing with the X-Hunters and Zero is very well done MULTIPLAYER: n/a ORIGINALITY: 3. Not much has changed REALISM: 3. Nope CONTROL: 10. Slightly improved over X1, which was almost perfect anyway MATURITY: 6. Guns and a rockin' soundtrack You NEED to play X1 beforehand, simply put, or this game won't make sense. Once you've done that, keep reading. Megaman X2 follows closely in the footsteps of X1, even continuing its storyline where the first one left off. (The story's pretty good, too.) Sure, there are new levels, bosses, weapons, upgrades, you name it, but it's still Megaman X at heart. Which, of course, means that it's great. Only two notable things are obscenely different: first off, the graphics. They're greatly improved over X1's, mainly for the inclusion of the graphics chip. Second, the music. I don't know why Capcom messed with perfection! The guitar and bass both were tweaked to sound more realistic. That's not a good thing. But the rest of the game greatly outweighs that. And one last note: The Dragon Punch. Find it, and dominate. OVERALL: ********* 90% Reviewed on 4/13/1999
