One word: POKÉMON I recently played Pokémon Gold on emu (I wanted to play Silver instead, but I think it got corrupted in the download). And let me tell you, you'll never want to go back to the older ones again. Although I don't have a Gameboy Color, I'm getting one when this game gets translated into english in September. The graphics are colorful and detailed, much like a late NES game. The battles are awesome, too. All of the Pokémon have been redrawn in full color, there's no annoying pixel affect on your own Pokémon, and even the single-frame attacks look good (like Caterpie's String Shot and Hinoarashi's Smoke Bomb). But what really draws attention is the extended Pokédex. It's up to 251 now! A new starting item called the Pokégear is in here too, and it works like a radio, phone, and clock (yes, the game runs in real time too). It shouldn't be too hard to find as of yet (just search for "pokemon gold rom" on Mamma.com or something, but watch out because one link is a porn site in disguise.) This game is worth the effort of finding a rom for it. OVERALL: ********* 95% Reviewed on 12/10/1999
