NAME: Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins SYSTEM: Gameboy MAKER: Nintendo PRODUCER: I forgot, but for once it's NOT Miyamoto-kun GENRE: Platform GRAPHICS: 4. Only a little better than SML1 MUSIC: 3. Extremely 8-bit FUN: 7. It did, after all, become a million-seller REPLAY: 4. I don't know, but high scores just ain't worth it any more DIFFICULTY: 5. Only the last level is even slightly hard ENDING: 2. Oh, wow STORYLINE: 4. Well, it introduced Wario, but... I don't know, too "Marioish" :^] MULTIPLAYER: n/a ORIGINALITY: 3. Wow, it has a world map REALISM: 2. Definitely would've been a good Atari 5600 game CONTROL: 2. Excruciatingly timed jumps MATURITY: 4. Um... no problem Dang, this thing's old! I mean, sorry, I couldn't help myself, but this really is a classic. If you're the kind of person who delights over playing the first three SMB games (the last one is still quite enjoyable nowadays, might I add), this is the game for you. Sure, it's not on par with Mario World or even SMB3, but it's still okay in its own right. I should note that it's a type of twisted that you can only get by stomping on a big evil version of Mario (both for the "War" in Wario, and the fact that the word "Warui" is Japan- ese for "evil") while wearing flying rabbit's ears. It's cheap, so what the heck, give it a try. OVERALL: ***** 50% Reviewed on 5/20/1999
