NAME: Sonic the Hedgehog 2 SYSTEM: Sega Genesis MAKER: Sega PRODUCER: Yuji Naka GENRE: Action/Platform GRAPHICS: 7. For being so old, the amount of parallax used is shocking MUSIC: 5. Catchy combinations of beeps and boops FUN: 9. One of the better Sonics REPLAY: 2. Maybe to get all of the emeralds DIFFICULTY: 9. Beating the Metropolis Zone without all the Emeralds is half-impossible ENDING: 3. *Yawn* STORYLINE: 4. Run-of-the-mill Sonic crap, although it did introduce the Death Star ripoff MULTIPLAYER: 8. Fun, but occasionally annoying ORIGINALITY: 7. A lot of new ideas, most of them good REALISM: 2. A second-generation Genesis game needs no explaination CONTROL: 8. Can get hectic sometimes MATURITY: 5. Not too cutesy, besides Tails, the "Scrappy Doo of gaming" Ugh. This is like reviewing Mario All-Stars: nostalgic and not too appealing to new gamers. Anyway. If this is still included with Genesises, I'd have to say it's great :). But really, this game isn't half-bad, and especially so when it's locked on to Sonic and Knuckles. If you like the Sonic games then you might like this, and if you're new to the series, then you'll want to start out with this. I can't really tell you if you'll like it; for most people it's a love-hate relationship. OVERALL: ****** 60% Reviewed on 12/17/1998
