NAME: Sonic 3 SYSTEM: Sega Genesis MAKER: Sega PRODUCER: Yuji Naka GENRE: Action/Platform GRAPHICS: 9. Good, and on-par with S&K MUSIC: 9. Some under-emphasized "rap," but I like most of it, especially the Carnival zone FUN: 7. Not near as good as S&K, but not awful REPLAY: 1. NO reason whatsoever DIFFICULTY: 8. Tough bosses ENDING: 2. It's credits... STORYLINE: 7. Introduced the now-famous Floating Island MULTIPLAYER: 6. Tails flying you around is exceedingly handy ORIGINALITY: 5. Another Sonic REALISM: 7. 3-Dish, but the special stages are awesome CONTROL: 6. Tails' flying is jerky MATURITY: 6. Nice... uh... half-rap There's an odd story behind Sonic 3. See, at first, Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles were going to be one game, but in order to get it out on time, they took out some levels and the ability to use Knuckles, etc. Those "lost levels" were put together in Sonic & Knuckles; however, Yuji Naka (Sonic's creator) realized that the two combined games would be awesome, as he had originally intended. Thus, Lock-On technology was born, and the rest is history. Anyway, I have to admit that Sonic & Knuckles is a lot better than Sonic 3. The entire game seems like a learning experience, then you get tossed into a boss battle and you're dead. I don't really have much to say about this game. I reccomend getting it ONLY if you have S&K, otherwise, take a rain check on this one. OVERALL: ******* 70% Reviewed on 4/1/1999
